About the facility
Chelyabinsk Pipe Rolling Plant is one of the largest manufacturers of steel pipes in Russia, it is part of TMK. The plant was founded in 1942 on the premises of the evacuated Mariupol Pipe Plant.
CHTPZ is rightfully considered a landmark enterprise both for Chelyabinsk region and for the entire pipe industry. The plant produces pipes with a diameter from 89 to 1,422 mm: large-diameter electric welded pipes, including those with an internal smooth-walled coating and an external anticorrosive coating, as well as seamless hot-formed, hot-rolled and cold-bent pipes.
The consumers of CHTPZ products are companies of the gas and oil refining industry, mechanical engineering, energy complex, construction industry, agriculture, aircraft industry, etc.
Today, the pipes made in Chelyabinsk can be met underwater, in the air, and underground:
– over 70% of operating gas and oil transmission pipelines are made by CHTPZ
– the produce by this pipe rolling plant was used for construction of sports facilities of the Olympic games-2014 and World Football Championship-2018
– CHTPZ is the only producer in the world which manufactures blades for the main weightlifting helicopter MI-26
– the produce by the plant is widely used in all sectors of economy: fuel and energy, car-making, utilities, etc.
Innovative productions with advanced approaches in the field of technology, organisation of production and culture have been launched at the CHTPZ — Europe's largest workshop to produce large-diameter pipes "Vysota 239" and an enterprise for the production of stamped-welded pipeline parts using nanostructured materials ETERNO. The unusual name of the workshop “Vysota 239” is related to its location – the height of 239 meters above sea level – higher than the height of other pipe rolling plants in the world. ETERNO is translated from Latin as eternity.
About the facility
Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works (MMK) is one of the world's largest steel producers and a leader among the ferrous metallurgy enterprises of Russia. MMK Group's assets are a large metallurgical complex with a full production cycle, starting with the preparation of iron ore raw materials and ending with the deep processing of ferrous metals. For many years MMK Group demonstrates positive dynamics in the production of high-quality products, and a growth in labour productivity. The company implemented a large-scale programme to upgrade production facilities, the technological process is being improved, scientific and technical developments and innovation proposals are introduced.
Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works is a recognised leader in the metallurgical industry in terms of the variety of the product range and the pace of technical re-equipment of production. MMK has a powerful material and technical base for the production of highly competitive products.
In 2021, sales of steel products by MMK Group amounted to 12,480 thousand tons, an increase of 16.0% compared to the previous year. Iron smelting increased by 11.5% to 10,420 thousand tons, and the volume of steel smelting increased by 17.4% to 13,592 thousand tons compared to 2020.
The domestic market remains a priority and strategical importance, where the key consumers of MMK products are traditionally enterprises processing metal products, including pipe, hardware and machine-building plants, automobile and construction companies of the Russian Federation.
Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works is mastering the production of import-substituting products. MMK mastered the production of more than 100 different grades of steel in accordance with the highest international standards.
A large-scale investment program is realised at Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works for many years. Currently, one of MMK's largest investment projects is the construction of the coke oven battery complex No. 12.
The capacity of coke oven battery No. 12 is 2.5 million tons of dry coke per year. The cost of the project will be about 67 billion roubles. The construction of the coke oven battery complex No. 12 in two stages is provided by the project documentation. The capacity of the first stage of the complex in autonomous operation will be 1.25 million tons of coke per year. At the second stage, two more coke oven battery units with technological installations will be built. The increase in production during the commissioning of the second stage will amount to 1.25 million tons of coke per year.
The realisation of this project, in addition to the production goals, is of great environmental importance for MMK and will significantly improve the environmental situation in Magnitogorsk.
About the facility
As part of OMK, it is Russia's largest enterprise in the nomenclature of connecting parts of pipelines.
It produces more than 1000 standard sizes of products for the organisation of pipe bends and changes in their diameter during the construction of trunk pipelines, distribution and pumping stations, oil and gas processing plants, nuclear and thermal power plants - bends, transitions, tees, plugs, bottoms, transition rings, nodes and supports of pipelines and other equipment.
Trubodetal OMK provides the pipeline products to companies for oil production, construction of gas pipelines, oil communications, equipment of compressor and power plants.
